Hourly Starting Salary Range: $17.03 to $22.12 (DOQ)

 

 

Position Function

 

Performs duties to operate and maintain equipment in the wastewater treatment and collection system and provides quality wastewater services to customers.  Actively assists with providing on-the-job training to new employees, and may act as lead operator on a shift.

 

 

Typical/Essential Duties

 

1)      Conducts lab tests by taking and analyzing samples, running tests on various equipment, cleaning bottles for auto sampler, and determining results of tests.

 

2)      Maintains and cleans plant and equipment; cleans the lab, washes lab ware, counters, and floors, and performs maintenance duties as needed or assigned.

 

3)      Monitors and adjusts system flows, treatment process conditions, and storage levels by monitoring the status of production, storage, and collection systems.

 

4)      Maintains system reports and records by preparing and logging daily reports in computer system.

 

5)      May inspect construction activities at District facilities under the direction of an experienced Construction Manager on a temporary basis.

 

6)      Actively assists with providing on-the-job training to new employees, and may act as lead operator on a shift.

 

7)      Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

Must be able to read and comprehend technical information, directives, manuals, memos, reports, as well as, other work related materials.  Must have the ability to prepare analysis sheets, reports, inventories, logbooks, purchase orders, and work requests.  Must be able to calculate dosages and perform general math calculations.  Must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.  Must have a valid Class C Drivers License.  Must possess a valid TCEQ Class B Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification.  Must be able to pass applicable pre-employment Drug Screen, Physical, and Background Checks.
